3rd round match with of Richard Gasquet

It was Richard Gasquet with Fernando Verdasco in a 3rd round match that Verdasco over powered Gasquet and sent him back with a third round defeat in the French Open 2014. The score card read 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4.

It was a straight set win match for Verdasco. Gasquet failed to inspire throughout the match. The match did not continue in the same day due to bad light so the match resumed the next day. Richard Gasquet proved no match in front of the Spaniard as he found his rhythm into the match.

Gasquet already had a dismal lead against Verdasco in his previous encounters. Though Richard Gasquet has reached the semi finals of two grand slam twice but failed to break through into the finals. It has been four years since he has been in the ATP Tour. It might be lack of inexperience and less confidence that Gasquet is unable to reach the finals.

The preview of the match between Gasquet and Verdasco also predicted that it would be Verdasco who will emerge victorious. Gasquet’s first two rounds were spectacular and even he was going in with confidence in the third round but unfortunately he suffered defeat in the hands of Fernando Verdasco who proved to be pro on clay court.

His effort was commendable which cannot be denied. Clearly Gasquet was the crowd favorite who was hoping to change things around but in the end the fortunes turned against him and he could not ponder over the situation in spite of getting one night off before the match commenced the next day. It is a matter of luck too as Gasquet has had trouble in reaching the final stage as he gets knocked down earlier than expected. The result got mixed reaction.
