BARTOLI OUT OF DUBAI

On Tuesday, world number 7 Marion Bartoli was knocked-out of the Dubai Duty Free Championship, thanks to a brilliant show from Shuai Peng, the Chinese tennis star. It was one of the biggest upsets in the opening round draws.

Shuai Peng accomplished her remarkable win in straight sets 6 – 4, 6 – 3 just taking one hour and twenty-eight minutes to get a remarkable victory.

It was the 9th match between these two tennis stars. The seventeenth ranked Chinese ace reduced the head-to-head to 4 – 5 with this triumph and secured a match with Daniela Hantuchova who forced past the Slovenian Polona Hercog in a very close three match.

Marion Bartoli powered into the lead in the first 3 games, including a break in the 2nd game. She guided the scores 3 – 0 before Shuai Peng pounced back and tied the scores at 3 – 3 with a productive serve in the 5th game.

After a brilliant beginning, Marion Bartoli was beaten back by brilliant shot selection and good game play from the Chinese ace. She decelerated the game’s pace and forced Marion to play from the baseline creating it tough for the French player to generate pace on the returns.

Bartoli’s frustration grew and Shuai Peng took advantage on it along with a brilliant breakthrough in the 9th game. She served out the last game from the baseline to clinch the win, and create a proud upset in the championship.

Bartoli will bounce back from this defeat, and remains one of the pundits choices for the Grand Slams – she has the best Wimbledon odds. She will be back!
