Bartoli To Partner Murray In Charity Doubles

If you are a Marion Bartoli fan, there is some good news for you. You will have the opportunity to see your favourite player in action again in a few days’ time. The 2013 Wimbledon Champion is going to participate in a charity mixed doubles match which will take place at Queen’s club on the 15th of this month.

Bartoli will partner the Scottish superstar Andy Murray in that match and the opposing pair will consist of Ross Hutchkins and a player from female category whose name has not been disclosed yet.

The money raised from that match will be given to the Elena Baltacha Tennis Academy.

Elena Baltacha was actually a former British player who passed away some time back. She was suffering from the dangerous disease of cancer. She was just 30 years of age.

So, this charity match is going to be organized in her memory.

Bartoli has not played any professional match after announcing her retirement last year. She had shocked the entire tennis world by that announcement as nobody was expecting her to hang the racquets after achieving glory in the Wimbledon Championships. But, she decided to quit because of her fitness issues and since then, she hasn’t been seen on the court playing any kind of match.

Talking about Baltacha the other day, the Frenchwoman said, “She was one of my good buddies and that’s why I am looking to do whatever I can to raise money for her academy.”

“She herself was a very helpful human being. She was always ready to do things for the other people. So, it’s really nice to see people coming forward and trying to help her academy. That would make her happy wherever she is.”

Baltacha had retired from professional tennis last year.
